Jean Carlos Correa, brother of Houston Astros American League Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa, signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Alvin Community College next year.

Jean Correa is currently playing baseball at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and will join the team in fall 2016, head coach Jason Schreiber said.

“We’re excited because he is an excellent player and he will be continuing his career at ACC,” he said.

Correa decided to attend ACC wanting to be close to his brother Carlos, who stars at shortstop for the Houston Astros and was named the AL Rookie of the Year for 2015.

ACC is coming off back-to-back 40-win seasons in NJCAA Region 14 ball.

Jean Correa is also a middle infielder and will be a great addition to the Dolphins.

“He’s a tremendous defensive player and he’s definitely going to contribute significantly to our offense,” Schreiber said.

The Baseball team will take to the field for the first time on January 30 against Temple College at 12 p.m. in Phillips Field.
